AUGUST 2016: Water City Grill has permanently closed.

Located on Cape Coral Pkwy in the old Wine and Roses building, Water City is all about the city of Cape Coral and it's many waterfront homes on the Caloosahatchee River and more than 400 miles of canals.

Full renovations by the friendly new owners have transformed the grill into a fresh and bright space. Sit outside at one of the cafe tables, or inside at one of 2 spacious dining rooms. Choose bar seating along with tables, booths, and high tops in the first dining room .......... or sit at one of the tables in the second dining room.

No matter where you sit, you'll see photographs on the walls showing our city from before it was developed in the late 50's through the present day.

I like the decor ........ simple and clean modern lines with the cozy touch of brown paper covering tables.

Football games are screened on the wall in the second dining room on weekends. The rest of the time, The Fat Spy, a movie filmed in the Cape in 1966 featuring Phyllis Diller and Jayne Mansfield, is shown.

Sometimes diners get up and dance along with the movie, which is full of madcap, campy fun!

On the menu, you'll find appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, chicken, grilled meats, pasta dishes, and seafood ....... plus wine and signature cocktails.

Their most popular dish is the broasted, or pressure-fried chicken. It is out of this world ......... crispy, crunchy without all the grease.

As I was waiting for my meal, I enjoyed yummy, crusty rolls topped with melted butter.
