Viva Cape Coral is a festival for everyone to learn about and celebrate Latino culture.
UPDATE December 2017: I don't see a date for this festival for the upcoming year, however, the LatinFest will be on January 20, 2018 at Six Bends Harley Davidson in Ft Myers.
This festival started out as a Cinco de Mayo fair which celebrated Mexico's heritage and national pride but developed into a celebration of all Latin American countries and Hispanic people.
It's a great way to experience something new and get out to meet new people of diverse backgrounds.
Put on by the SWFL Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on January 16, 2016, the festival is all about the food, music, and dancing, and crafts of Mexico, Cuba, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Peru, and Caribbean countries.
Reggae from Jamaica, a teen miss, latin jazz, salsa, zumba dancing, and so much more are all part of the fun and will get your hips shaking as you will see in the video:
Over 70 vendors lined SW 47th Terrace, with their colorful wares and tasty food.
Kids can get in on the fun too, with a bouncy house, laser tag, pony rides, rock-climbing wall, and toy booths.
I lived in Panama when I was a kid, and we used to go to the ruins of Old Panama City and I remember getting grilled meat on a stick called a "palito".
Mmmmmmmmm .... they were delicious then and they are just as good at this Cape Coral festival ......... and so is the rest of the food where you have all kinds of grilled meat kabobs, roast pork, chicken, tacos, and more!
Have you tasted fried plantains yet, tried cod fritters, or sipped your drink from a pineapple! No? Well, get your spice on, and get yourself to the festival!
