When I go to the beach on Sanibel or Captiva, I like to stay for the sunset and then go out for dinner somewhere on the islands.
I'd gone to Jacaranda, a Sanibel favorite, several years ago and loved it ....... time to go back!
The thing that struck me at the time, besides the fact that the food was so good, was that the indoor dining room reminded me of elegant restaurants in Connecticut ...... where I'd just moved from. And, the outdoor patio was so Florida ..... it just made me very happy!
The first time, we ate our meal in the lovely dining room, which has open sliders to a tropical patio garden.
We were fortunate to have our table at one of the booths looking out to the garden.
This time, I wanted to eat outside on the just-as-lovely back patio, surrounded by the gardens, a dolphin statue, and decorated with little lights.
Inside is dressier, outside is casual ...... and there's The Jac Bar behind the back patio for cocktails and live entertainment nightly.
Served with dinner were crusty slices of bread with olive oil and cheese.
Then came a delicious and fresh salad, with the best house-made honey mustard salad dressing I've ever had!
I love seafood and ordered their Broiled Sea Scallops and Mashed Potatoes for dinner ........ it was the perfect thing to have after a day at the beach.
For dessert, I had to have the Mango Ice Cream ...... it was a huge portion with tons on whipped cream ....... yum!
Also on the menu are: appetizers, soups, pasta, lots of seafood specials plus chicken, ribs, veal ....... and of course, steaks. They have an extensive wine list.
I had a good time chatting with some friendly folks at the table next to mine, they'd been coming to the restaurant for years.

They are open year-round, 7 days a week from 5PM-10PM.
