Matzaluna

Matzaluna - Yum, yum, yum .... pasta, wood-fired pizza, seafood dishes, and more are all at this most Italian of the Sanibel Island restaurants!

We went to watch the sunset one evening out on Sanibel and decided to go out to eat afterwards.

We decided we were in the mood for Italian food and saw Matza Luna as we were driving down Periwinkle Way, it looked so welcoming that we pulled on in.

Matza Luna is part of part of group of prestigious Fort Myers and Sanibel restaurants that include The Timbers, Prawnbrokers, and University Grill.  There's plenty of parking but be aware that there are a good amount of steps to climb to get up to the restaurant.

Once you get up to the terrace, there are some bistro tables in front of the restaurant if you'd like to eat outside.

On the inside, the restaurant is decorated to look like an Italian market with checkered floors and the colors of the Italian flag, red and green ....... where you can sit at booths, tables, or at the bar.

While we waited for our meal, we were served bread and olive oil with herbs for dipping ..... I love that and have to be careful I don't eat to much and spoil my appetite!

For dinner, I had their daily special which was fish with an amazing mango butter sauce over smashed potatoes and spinach.  The sauce was so good that I make my own version of it at home all the time now ...... I just blender up melted butter, mango, and crushed garlic!
