I'm always looking for things to do in Sanibel Island. I decided to take my parents to try Il Tesoro.
We had heard that the food, while costly, was amazing and we wanted to find out for ourselves to see if that was true.
They serve authentic Italian food that is made with the freshest of ingredients.
This charming little restaurant is located in a small shopping plaza on Tarpon Bay Rd and Sanibel-Captiva Drive. Twining flowered vines, bright colors, and the restaurant's beachy Old Florida look beckoned me and then the smell of roasted garlic really reeled me in!
Once inside, I was pleased with the cozy, yet elegant decor, and the intimate feeling of the dining room.
My folks ordered the linguini with clams and mussels in a white wine, olive oil, garlic, cherry tomatoes, and cream sauce ..... they loved it!
I had to get the Veal Teatro, it was topped with a tomato sauce to die for and lots of capers, Kalamata olives, and a sprinkling of rosemary. It was so good, I was thinking about the dish all week and made it for myself at home.
You'll find a nice selection of dishes on the menu, from soups and salads, to appetizers, pastas, fish and meat entrees and desserts.
Call them for to-go meals, and to find out about their special chef's menu as well as a 3-course meal that are available at certain times.
Il Tesoro also has a location in New York City. They are open for dinner from 5-10PM 7 days a week and for lunch during season. With so many terrific Sanibel restaurants to try, make sure you take the time to go to:

Go a little earlier and visit Tower Art Gallery next door before you head into dinner.
Then after dinner, head over to Tarpon Bay Beach and watch the sunset!
