Starlight Diner - Return to the 1950's with great diner-style food, jukebox tunes, chrome and formica decor, and Elvis!
UPDATE JULY 2016: Unfortunately, the diner has closed.
The restaurant used to be Dempsey's Diner, and thankfully, the new owners have kept pretty much the same theme for menu and dining.
Although there is outdoor seating, I love sitting inside so I can be transported back to the decade of bobby-soxers and poodle skirts.
Go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner..... see hours below. And, they serve breakfast all day. I like that because by the time I finally get it together, it's usually close to noon. At Starlight, Elvis still greets you at the front door!
When you walk in, you can't help but notice the black and white checkered floors, aqua vinyl, and a Marilyn Monroe statue ............. and more fun 50's memorabilia that just kinda make me fell happy.
Elvis is singing in the background and then I couldn't help noticing the Grilled Salmon Eggs Benedict on the specials of the day board ...... that's what I ordered.
Mmmmmmmmm ....... amazing ...... and the perfect blending of flavors along with crispy hash brown potatoes.
You've got to try their Corned Beef Hash ....... it's made differently. Chunks of corned beef and potatoes are mixed with peppers and onions, and covered with a tasty glaze. Best hash ever!
For breakfast you'll also find eggs, omelets, pancakes, french toast, loaded pancakes and french toast, and blue plate specials.
For lunch: soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, meatloaf, seafood, and blue plate specials such as my favorite ..... turkey or rib eye open-face sandwiches topped with gravy!
Bring your dog ........ well-behaved pets are welcome on the patio that's on the side of the restaurant.
Starlight Diner is located in a shopping plaza on Pine Island Rd. They are open from 7AM-4PM Sunday - Tuesday, 7PM-8PM Wednesday and Thursday, 7AM-9PM Friday and Saturday. I'm guessing they have extended hours during season.
