Naples Zoo is a terrific place to see and learn all about your favorite wild animals.
It's located in the Caribbean Gardens, a historical garden that was first planted in 1919 with exotic tropical plants and beautiful old trees that make the perfect backdrop for a zoo.
The zoo has a cafe for lunch, and a gift shop, and is available for groups, parties, weddings, and meetings.
You'll see everything from big game animals, typical of Africa, to Florida natives such as alligators.
You can also see shows
in their open-air theater about various animals, such as the monitor lizard below:
Watch
educational demonstrations and feedings, go on a cruise, and meet with the
zookeepers. We got to watch one of the zookeepers feed a cheetah:
The zoo is proud to be the home of unusual animals rarely seen in many zoos.
You can see African honey-badgers, buff-cheeked gibbons, parma wallabies, Malagasy fosas, Tonkin bug-eyed frogs, ground hornbills, gaboon vipers, and striped hyenas.
They also have lions, cheetahs, tigers, leopards, black bears, alligators, coyotes, and African animals like gazelles, kudus, river hogs, zebras, and more.
I really liked the brightly colored parrots, the monkeys with their shenanigans, and the lions.
We actually were "talking" to one of the lions. We roared at it several times and it roared back!
The zoo now has a herd of 7 giraffes which, for an extra fee, you can feed with tasty veggies and treats right from your hand!
You'll love taking the boat ride to see the monkeys and lemurs on islands in the middle of the zoo.
Your ticket to the zoo includes all of these things and you should plan about 4 hours to do everything.
