Doc Fords Rum Bar And Grille is one of the newest Captiva Island restaurants, go for their delicious food, nautical ambience, and delightful service!
Doc Ford is the much-loved marine biologist/mystery sleuth of the famous Randy Wayne White books which take place on Sanibel and South Florida.
You'll also love the restaurants which are named after the sleuth, located on Ft Myers Beach, Sanibel, and Captiva.
The one on Captiva is near the end of Captiva Drive. Turn right into the southern entrance into the South Seas Island Resort, it's in the plaza across the street from Chadwick Square.
I love going out to Captiva around Christmas time because they decorate the village for so many fun events for Captiva's Holiday Village.
I finally made it out to the island to try the restaurant over the holidays after a fun day at the beach.
You can sit outside on the patio at the front when the weather is cooperating, it was decorated with festive twinkly white lights.
Or, sit inside like I did at an intimate booth or one of the freestanding tables .......... you can also sit at the bar.
I usually get seafood when I go out to eat, but I love ribs and I was in the mood for some when I went to Doc's.
I had a full rack of Danish Baby-Back Ribs with their specialty BBQ sauce along with smashed potatoes and cole slaw with red cabbage ........... it was awesome!
I also had to finish off my meal with a slice of a beautifully decorated and very tasty Key Lime Pie.
Also on the menu are: appetizers, flatbreads, soups, salads, sandwiches, raw bar and entrees that include many seafood dishes, steak, chicken, pork, and daily dinner specials with a Caribbean flair.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week, with entertainment Wednesday - Saturday during dinner time.
You can purchase Doc Ford-themed shirts, hats, and visors for men and women along with gift cards.
Contact them for information about hosting special events and to see menu details, more photos, and see their online store.
