I'd been wanting to go for a long time, I'd heard from several people about how good their food is.
The small, neighborly restaurant features a dining room and bar inside ..... and seating by the water on their back patio.
Beachy colors adorn the casual and rather noisy space for a fun atmosphere that draws local and seasonal folks looking for fresh, locally-caught seafood. Parking is available around the restaurant and across the street at the Kayak Rental place after hours.
I ordered their Coconut Shrimp Dinner with yummy Coleslaw on the side ......... it was awesome!
The shrimp were crispy and delicious and the Mango Salsa for dipping wasn't overly sweet ........ just the way I like it! The Coleslaw was creamy and very flavorful .......... did I detect a hint of bacon?
On the menu, you have options to choose your seafood, pick how you want it cooked, then choose a sauce, and side dish.
You can also order starters, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, wings, steaks, and chicken dishes.
BlueDog serves local beers ......... they have 18 beers on tap, and wine as well.
You'll notice that the dog on their logo is wearing white fishermen's boots, in honor of the fishing industry of Matlacha and Pine Island.
They are open Monday - Saturday 11AM-9PM, and Sunday 11AM-7PM. Buy BlueDog tee shirts, hats, and coozies.
