Cape Coral Motorcycles - With such great weather all year round, Florida is a haven for motorcyclists!
Find out how to get a Florida motorcycle license ............. plus information about training courses, tests, helmet and eyewear laws, and where to get motorcycles and gear.
Back in 2008, the law changed and it is now a requirement in Florida to have either a motorcycle-only license or a motorcycle endorsement on your regular driver's license.
These licenses are for 2- or 3-wheel motorbikes with engines of 50cc or larger.
For a Motorcycle Endorsement:
The Basic Rider Course must be one certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.
The 15 hour course costs upwards of $200, can be completed usually in 3 days, and teaches you how to start, stop, turn, corner, and swerve.
To take the course you must have appropriate gear such as DOT certified helmets, proper eye protection and footwear, full-finger gloves, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts.
The course provides bikes, some safety gear, as well as Florida Motorcycle Handbooks so you can study road rules and safety, motorcycle law, and driving skills.
After that, you will need to take:
For a Motorcycle-Only License:
You must meet the above requirements including regular Class E drivers license, except for the 4-wheel motor vehicle driving test.
Once you get your license, you will have to go to the very popular Cape Coral Bike Night ...... it's so much fun!
Live music, food, games, vendors, and tons of motorcycles take over SE 47th Terrace 4 times a year during season.
If you go, you'll notice that hardly anyone is wearing a helmet.
That's because the Florida Helmet Law states that you don't have to wear a helmet if you are 21 and older, and have a medical insurance policy worth at least $10,000.
Everyone must wear protective eyewear such as goggles or sunglasses, or have a windshield.
