Bistro in Vivo serves the best authentic French and Italian food, as well as the finest coffee and wines, in downtown Cape Coral.
UPDATE JANUARY 2014: I'm sorry to report that the bistro has closed.
The Cape is fortunate to have some really terrific places to eat and this bistro is one of them.
I love, love, love this restaurant! First of all, the food is amazing ...... and I really like the chic and romantic ambience.
Artwork is displayed on the walls and I feel like I'm dining in a jewel, with chandeliers, little white lights, and candles reflecting light in pink crystals. The restaurant is a mixture of cozy antiques, a smattering of modern and a dab of elegance.
Quiche, pastries, and desserts in a glass display case complete the decor and entice you to try these delectable-looking treats.
We also enjoyed the music, blues and big band, which complemented our meal perfectly.
Breakfast is served Monday - Friday from 9-11AM and Brunch is on Saturday and Sunday from 9AM-2PM. You'll find pastries, croissants, quiches, crepes, egg dishes, and bagels for breakfast ........ plus omelets, French Toast, and Eggs Benedict for brunch.
For lunch, served Monday - Friday from 11AM-2:30PM, order soup, salad, crepes, French baguette sandwiches, quiches, paninis, and specialties.
You have to try their crepes. I had the Ham, Swiss Cheese, and Sour Cream Crepe, it was so delicious ....... and Nicole loved her panini. We were served salads with a very light, fresh, and tasty dressing. Nicole discovered that she likes pomegranate seeds, which topped her fruit salad.
The dinner menu has appetizers, soup, salad, pasta, and chicken, beef, duck, veal, and seafood entrees ......... plus desserts, served Monday-Saturday from 5-9PM.
We were served a little surprise along with our bread while we waited for our food, a slice of bread topped with olive tapenade, onion and pickle ....... mmmmmmm, very good.
I had Escargot for an appetizer, and they were very delicious, served with butter, garlic, parsley and walnuts. Don't forget to get extra bread to mop up the sauce!
For dinner, I couldn't resist the Boeuf Bourguignon ..... it was so good, I keep dreaming about it! It was served with Potatoes Au Gratin, the butteriest veggie combo, and a Carrot Cumin Sun-Dried Tomato Tartin, a tasty little vegetable cake.
Nicole said her Chicken Marsala was the best she ever had. I can't wait to go back and try their Filet Mignon della Mamma with 20 spices and Butter Sauce, and Seafood Thermidor.
At the next table, they were having a show with the Amazing Pamiggiana, a flaming pasta dish with mushrooms in a whole Parmesan wheel!
We finished off our dinner with dessert ...... Creme Brulee and Chocolate Mousse, also quite amazing.
I love it when food is artfully prepared and served, with thought to flavors as well as presentation.
Stop by for some coffee, regular or flavored with
vanilla, raspberry, hazelnut, and more ...... espresso, mocha, latte
..... either hot, iced, or as a smoothie along with a delicious pastry!
We enjoyed meeting owner Veronique and the gracious service from Jean-Claude.
