Gator Bites, Issue #064 - Twisted Lobster, Society, Tiny Houses April 02, 2018 |
Hi Calling All Lobster Lovers!Hello everyone! Our weather has been a bit mixed up this winter, with May temperatures in February, and January temperatures in March ...... but I'm not complaining! It's been warm and sunny as usual for the most part. As I expand my soap and jewelry business at the farmers markets, I have less and less time for the website and newsletter. So, I will be putting Gator Bites out every 3 months, and I will not be building website pages for the places that I feature here in the newsletter. I still hope you'll enjoy reading about what I've been up to! In this issue I feature 2 restaurants and one of the latest trends in housing.
I love lobster and try to have it at least once a year ........ back when I lived in Connecticut, and also now that I live in Florida. The Twisted Lobster specializes in New England-style seafood dishes and features daily evening specials. On Wednesdays, they serve 3 Lobster Tails for a great price that were absolutely delicious! Side dishes were a very tasty coleslaw and corn that was perfectly cooked. The restaurant is small, with tables outside and inside, and 3 seats at the bar. I like their beachy decor. The Twisted Lobster is located at 1341 Del Prado, (239)800-2879.
After a day of shopping at Bell Towers in Ft Myers, why not grab a bite to eat at the newest eatery to open there ........ Society, where one of my son-in-laws is head executive chef. A large open-air dining area and smaller indoor dining room are downstairs, bar with live music is upstairs. The restaurant's owners designed a Miami-chic menu and decor. I went on Valentine's Day for dinner, they served a special 4-course meal apart from their regular menu, and it was very good! I'll definitely go back to try their daily offerings. Tiny houses have become so popular lately, and I confess I'm intrigued with the idea myself. Tiny houses have recently been allowed in Cape Coral but with many restrictions, including the necessity of building them on foundations and only in certain community areas. Matlacha doesn't have those restrictions and has gone ahead and allowed a tiny house village and so far, there are 2 tiny houses on wheels available for vacation rentals. The mini-houses have a loft bedroom, sleeper couch in living area, full bathroom, and small kitchen in 200 sq/ft. They can be booked through Airbnb, Booking.com, or Expedia. They are located in the former Three Palms Park, just past Island Visions Gallery and Great Licks Ice Cream at 4661 Pine Island Rd.
My next newsletter will come out in June or July. I no longer have my soaps and jewelry at Karma & Coconuts, still going strong at the Tuesday and Saturday farmers markets. Happy Spring!
