Gator Bites, Issue #071 - Out on the Water
December 01, 2019
Hi

Out on the Water

Hello everyone! After having a prolonged and very hot summer, even for Florida, we finally have what we've all been waiting for, beautiful weather with temperatures in the 70's to low 80's and lower humidity. Come on down to visit ..... or just stay. :D

This issue features a sampling of some of the Florida Fun I've had the last several months. Enjoy!

If you're Bonita Springs and looking waterfront dining, my favorite place to to is Doc's Beach House at the end of Bonita Beach Rd as it curves back over to Lover's Key. You'll either want to get a table outside up near the beach or upstairs on the second level to have a great view. The seafood is delicious!

You've got to try Captain Jack's Tiki Tours around Matlacha Island. He has 2 boats that are docked at the Yucatan, also on Matlacha, where you grab a bite to eat before or after your tour! Tours include:

  • Tiki Boat Fun Tours
  • The Dolphin Tour
  • Sunset Cruises
  • Weddings/Renewal of Vows
  • Burial At Sea

We went on the sunset cruise, which lasted about an hour, and had a lovely time. He will even take out both boats for a large enough party! Reservations are required.

Well, I got a kayak for my birthday and went paddling at Sirenia Vista Park, here in the Cape. They have a special launch made just for kayaks which is awesome!

The park is on a canal around the bend from D&D Marina on Matlacha, so you don't have to paddle far to get out to Matlacha Pass. Be aware that there is a lot of boat traffic on the weekend which makes it more difficult to kayak in the narrow parts of the canal.

Don't forget to take your kids to this cute little park, especially in January, when the manatees congregate in the warmer canal on the eastern side of the park.

I revisited several favorite places this past summer that I want to remind you of.

I went for brunch and had a yummy skillet breakfast at 10 Twenty Five.

I also went to Matlacha for the tasty Coconut Shrimp Wrap at the Blue Dog.

My year wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Firestone, where my son-in-law is executive chef. He treated us to several small plates and appetizers before dinner. They all were amazing!

For dinner, I tried a new dish ..... the Pan-Seared Scallops with Brussel Sprouts, and they were excellent.

Everywhere we ate this summer, we had to try the Key Lime Pie .... and, I have to say that my favorite one was at The Firestone.

Happy Holidays and safe travels!

If you're in town and are looking for unique gifts to give, stop by and see me at the Cape Coral farmers markets where I make and sell soap, scrubs, body butter, sea glass jewelry, and more. I made some cool baskets out of palm fiber for my gift baskets that you'll want to check out.

My next newsletter will come out in March. :)

For those of you who have read Weird Cape Coral, but haven't found the treasure yet, here are some hints:

Look for 3 places in the ebook where it says "treasure" in blue. Click on it, because each is a link to one of 3 pages on my website.

Each page is a place that I think is a treasure in Cape Coral.

Once you figure out the 3 places, email me from my Contact Me page and I will send you a password to a secret page with more information about buying real estate here in Cape Coral.

Have fun.......if you need help -> Contact Me
