Gator Bites, Issue #022 - Lobster, Pizza, Art, and Jazz! June 08, 2012 |
Hi Lobster, Pizza, Art, and Jazz!Summer is here and we are excited since we will be going to Captiva for summer vacation so I can build a website about Captiva, probably starting January 2013. I'm also happy because I finally got the audit done to Come-to-Cape-Coral ...... whew! Hurricane season started on June 1st, go to my About Hurricanes pages for more information. And, the Kids Fishing Derby is this month, the day before Fathers Day. In this issue of Gator Bites, so will see that I built pages about 2 restaurants that I absolutely loved, a pizza place, a breakfast joint, one of Cape Coral's luxury home builders, Cape Coral's jazz festival, and the popular art and music walks in Ft Myers.
Lobster Lady is Cape Coral's newest restaurant and the word is out about it's great dine-in food, seafood market, atmosphere, and lobster games. Yes ..... I said lobster games! You can win a lobster in the crane-style game that is located at the restaurant and sold to places around the country. Either make a reservation or expect to wait any day of the week ....... but it's well worth it! Ciao Pizza has fresh, homemade Italian food and awesome wood-fired pizza. The restaurant is cozy and quaint, and owner Jill comes out of the kitchen every night to make friends and check to make sure her diners are satisfied. Go to Ciao! All you Bears, Bulls, and Cubs fans will love Chicago Pizza Cape Coral, famous for their delicious deep-dish and thin-crust pizzas, and serving Cape Coral for over 20 years. Watch Chicago teams games on big-screen TV's at their bar, or bring the family for pizza and other delights on the menu and eat in their dining room. Everyone wants to know where the locals go to hang out and I went such a place last month, Cape Coral's favorite breakfast joint, Annies Restaurant. They have terrific pancakes, omelets, and daily specials. Annies also serves lunch, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. Give Annies a try! The Hangout has same owners but a new name, Fletchers, their previous chef, and a new menu that emphasizes fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients. We really enjoyed our meal there and highly recommend it!
In March, Cape Coral has their Sounds of Jazz and Blues Festival. This year, the festival was moved to our beautiful Marina Village Resort, right on the water. We got VIP tickets and enjoyed a fantastic buffet prepared by the resort's Marker 92 restaurant, along with great seats near the stage and by the water. I love this festival, up to 4-5 local and national musicians and bands play for the afternoon and evening.
If you haven't been yet, you've got to go to the Fort Myers Art and Music Walks in downtown Ft Myers. Art Walks are the first Friday of the Month and Music Walks are the third Friday of the month. Both walks are pretty much the same, with all the restaurants, sidewalk cafes, shops, and art galleries open and musicians playing on every corner. These walks are a blast!
Last month I had a photo of some gators, and this month, I have a photo of a 15-pound lobster, found in the lobster tanks at Lobster Lady. I'd never seen a lobster that big before. :)
