Gator Bites, Issue #078 - Summer Fun!
July 06, 2021
Hi

Summer Fun!

Hi! I'm actually typing this while Storm Elsa is pouring on us. It's not expected to be too bad, but we may have some flooding. That's summer in Florida for ya!

During the summer is when we locals and particularly us seasonal workers get the chance to really hit the beaches, go out to eat a lot more, and go kayaking, exploring, etc. This issue features some places I went to that I haven't written about yet.

*Side Note - My son-in-law no longer works at Crisp Creperie, he is now at Cape Cabaret.

I had kept hearing about how good the food is at Deep Lagoon, a restaurant on MacGregor Blvd in Fort Myers just south of Cypress Lake. I went with my Dad and my brother and had a glorious dish of Mahi Mahi with Lobster Sauce over Rice and Zucchini. I finished off with a Pineapple Upside Down Cake ... no complaints whatsoever!

Deep Lagoon is at the marina so you can enjoy a view of the boats while dining. It's pretty popular there and you may encounter some problems parking, but if you wait a short time, someone will inevitably pull out and you can grab their space.

Also on MacGregor, but further down past Kelly Rd is the coffee shop Chocolattes. We went there a lot because my granddaughter was taking acting at the little theater next door.

I love their scones, some of the best I've ever had! I washed it down with their delectable Iced Chai Latte. you can go there for lunch there too, I had one of their Flatbreads ..... it was very good!

I found a great spot to go kayaking, if you have your own or access to one. It's in Matlacha at the Community Park. The kayak launch is to the left immediately after the park entrance.

You can go out into the open waters of Matlacha Pass and under the "Fishingest Bridge in the World", or through the canal behind the shops and galleries on Pine Island Rd, or explore the canals through the island.

That part of the park has a picnic area, fishing dock, and hose to wash off your boat. The park also has a fishing pier, boat launch, playground and sports field. The bathroom next to the community building is very clean.

For those of you who have read Weird Cape Coral, but haven't found the treasure yet, here are some hints:

Look for 3 places in the ebook where it says "treasure" in blue. Click on it, because each is a link to one of 3 pages on my website.

Each page is a place that I think is a treasure in Cape Coral.

Once you figure out the 3 places, email me from my Contact Me page and I will send you a password to a secret page with more information about buying real estate here in Cape Coral.

Have fun.......if you need help -> Contact Me
