Gator Bites, Issue #077 - Buy Local!
April 13, 2021
Hi

Buy Local!

Happy spring, the weather is getting warmer and we are actually starting to get some rain storms.

In this issue, I dine at Crisp Creperie, take a little trip (back in time) to the Dolphin Key Motel, and shop with Southwest Florida Produce.

One of my son-in-laws is a chef at Crisp Creperie next to the cinema at Coralwood Plaza on Del Prado Blvd, so, of course I had to go eat there ..... and let me tell you, it was amazing!

You can watch the chefs preparing your food, if you like. I had the Beef Crepe, but my absolute favorite is the Seafood Crepe, loaded with Crab, Shrimp, Roasted Corn, Mushrooms, Mozzarella, Tarragon Cream Sauce and crusted with Parmesan ..... so delicious! The savory crepes are served with mixed dark greens topped with a light and very fresh-tasting vinaigrette.

The Lemon Curd and Strawberry Crepe was also good, but the next time I go, I want to try the Nutella one.

Also serving Frittata, Belgian Leige Waffles, and various French appetizers, Crisp Creperie is open daily from 9AM-3PM.

Dolphin Key Resort is a motel with pool and the famous Tiki Bar, where I've gone plenty of times to hear live music.

Part of Cape Coral's early history, it was known as the Nautilus Motel back in the 60's when the Cape was first being developed, and probably the first home of many families moving here. An episode of the TV show Route 66 was filmed at the motel in the early 60's!

I've gotten to know Southwest Florida Produce as a fellow vendor at the Cape Coral farmers markets. I go to their booth first to do my shopping for fresh, local produce with organic options.

SWFL Produce is a family-run farm that is part of a coop so they can offer much more than they themselves can grow. You can buy at markets, online or at their warehouse location. They offer delivery, I actually got a job there this summer delivering on Fridays to the Cape Coral-Fort Myers area.

If you go on their website, you'll see that they also sell online locally made jams, pickles, dried fruit, honey, coffee, beef, farm-fresh eggs, and more!

For those of you who have read Weird Cape Coral, but haven't found the treasure yet, here are some hints:

Look for 3 places in the ebook where it says "treasure" in blue. Click on it, because each is a link to one of 3 pages on my website.

Each page is a place that I think is a treasure in Cape Coral.

Once you figure out the 3 places, email me from my Contact Me page and I will send you a password to a secret page with more information about buying real estate here in Cape Coral.

Have fun.......if you need help -> Contact Me
