The Shell Factory
The Shell Factory is a lot more than a sea shell store, it's got mini golf, bumper boats, and alligators!
The store is open everyday from 10AM-6PM and it is huge.
Located on Rt 41 in North Ft Myers, you will find the world's largest collection of seashells, along with fossils, coral, shark teeth, and items made from shells.
They also have clothing for men and women, purses and totes, jewelry, a Christmas shop, John Perry sculptures, an arcade, and all kinds of gift items such as wind chimes, candles, and stained glass.
They've got everything here except for the kitchen sink ....... and I wouldn't be surprised if they're selling sinks somewhere in the store.!
Hungry? Have some fudge, salt water taffy, or try some of their different-flavored coconut patties. Hungry for more? You can eat at Capt'n Fishbones, open everyday from 11AM-8PM.
They serve sandwiches, seafood baskets, fresh seafood dinners, fried grouper specials, steaks, prime rib and pasta dishes.
Other specials include: Fish Fry on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday ........ baby-back ribs on Thursdays, and Family Shrimp Specials on Sundays.
Sit outside at the new Dogbones Cafe and bring your pet, as a matter of fact, the whole shell Factory complex is pet-friendly.
Their Doggy Heaven dog park is a free place to take your pets to try their agility course, splash in the Doggy fountain, participate in wiener dog races, or go to Doggy Church every Sunday at 12:30PM. It's also home to Suncoast Dock Dogs, a club that meets every Sunday afternoon and has dog jumping events and promotes dog rehabilitation.
We like to play mini golf and The Shell Factory has a nice little course under shady trees next to the bumper boat pond and paddle boat lagoon.
Head over to the Nature Park to see over 350 different kinds of animals form gators to lemurs, and a zebra!
Have you ever seen a kinkajou, a coatimundi, or a hissing cockroach? You can see these animals, and birds, snakes, insects and more.
Watch the keepers feed the gators or feed them yourself .... every Saturday at 1:30PM.
The Nature Park also has a butterfly garden, 2 playgrounds, picnic spot, and dinosaur park. It's open 7 days a week from 10AM-5PM.
Even though Shell Factory is a bit run down, it's still a fun destination for shopping and family entertainment.
