Great Licks

Great Licks has the best homemade ice cream and sorbet, made locally with the freshest local ingredients like mangoes, limes, and coconut.

It's over in Matlacha, a part of Pine Island which you must go see while you're in Cape Coral.

Just take Pine Island Rd westward and in no time flat, you'll be on the funky, artsy island with colorful Old Florida charm.

BJ and his crew are happy to scoop up your ice cream into cups, cones, and waffle cones, or to make combinations and sundaes.

The ice cream shop offers ten flavors each month; using local, seasonal ingredients such as mangoes, something Pine island is known for.

The mango ice cream and mango sorbet are absolutely delicious!

I had a scoop of marshmallow coconut ice cream with my scoop of mango sorbet ........ so yummy, and the sorbet is so refreshing.

Mangoes are in season during the middle of summer, so try to get over there in July or August.

A specialty ice cream flavor is offered each week, and a specialty sorbet is offered each month.

Have you tried maple pretzel, pumpkin pie, or cinnamon?

My favorite is the Key Lime Pie, which actually has chunks of pie crust in it.

The Blackberry Chocolate Chip is to die for, and is their most popular flavor.

Toasted coconut, vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, coffee, mint chocolate chip, and strawberry are the other regular flavors, all homemade by Queenies Ice Cream.

Another reason why this is one of our favorite Cape Coral ice cream shops is that it is connected to one of the art galleries, Island Visions.

You can grab your ice cream, then sit in the cafe section of the gallery and look at artwork while you eat.

Don't be surprised if Hector the kitty is taking a nap in the cafe!

You can also sit outside, or take a walk to the other galleries and shops that line the street next to Great Licks.
