Bridgewater Inn
The Bridgewater Inn is the most unique of the Matlacha hotels, built over the water in the style of a stilt fish house.
I couldn't wait to stay here and was very excited when we finally did.
You can't miss the bright colors of the inn as you drive over the bridge from Cape Coral into Matlacha.
As for fantastic water views, you just can't beat the Bridgewater!
A deck surrounds the entire inn so you can fish or dock your boat right outside your room.
There are four suites with kitchens or four standard rooms available with full or queen beds.
We slept very comfortably in our suite with a queen and a full bed, which also had an open kitchen, living, and dining area ......... which you can see in the video below:
Our room faced east and those rooms are quieter except at night when you can here music coming from Bert's Bar, but we only heard it till about 10PM.
Rooms at the back of the inn face south and have a private fishing deck.
Rooms facing west have the best views of Florida's spectacular sunsets but may be noisy because the bridge into Matlacha is being worked on until 0ctober of 2012.
Management is happy to accommodate their guests and will change your room if they can.
I took a video of the water view from that side of the inn:
Not only is Matlacha and Cape Coral known for really great fishing, but also for the wildlife.
We saw lots of dolphins from the deck, and there are also manatees and jumping mullet.
I was able to catch a quick video of some dolphins swimming close to the deck of the inn:
If you don't have a boat, kayaks are available for guests to use.
You will enjoy Matlacha, the main street has several really good restaurants, cute shops, and Creative Coast Weekends at their art galleries.
The inn is pet friendly.
To really experience Florida, and to stay in an interesting Cape Coral Motel, go to the Bridgewater Inn, waterfront accommodations in the fishing paradise of Matlacha.
